PSY 767 - offered in spring 2018
Seminar in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience (graduate level)
The emphasis of the upcoming course is on "what, why, and how" of cognitive neuroimaging and it may be of interest to those who plan to use imaging in their future studies or to current users who wish to learn about other options. The course will provide an overview of the various methods, their basic concepts, pros and cons, and their relative suitability for investigating the "when" and "where" of cognitive functions. A unifying question of how we process and recognize faces will illustrate the different answers rendered by each method. In addition, we will review the unique neuroimaging contributions to language, executive functions, neuropsychopharmacology, and will introduce issues relevant to genomic imaging. A fieldtrip to the MRI Center and a workshop at an EEG laboratory will provide insights into practical issues related to data acquisition and analysis.
